In 2011, the Mercedes Benz C-class (introduction: 2007) has received a Facelift, called "Mopf" (Modellpflege) in German. Beside minor changes in the tail- and headlight units and the front spoiler, the major improvement is the interior section. Another change was that the standard trim, which has been known under the "Classic" name, has lost its name and usually is referred to as "standard" or "basis". Apart from the basis trim, the Elegance and Avantgarde package are still available for the C-class.

In the pictures below, you can find a  Mercedes Benz C180 in the Avantgarde trim:

Some pro's and con's on the Mercedes Benz C180 BlueEFFICIENCY Avantgarde:

Pro:
  • Petrol engine runs smooth
  • The Avantgarde Package is an excellent upgrade of both the exterior and interior
  • The Mopf (or Facelift) was a major quality upgrade for the interior, which gives it a more refined and luxury feeling
Con:
  • Parktronic only sounds when the object is near, otherwise only a visual warning is given
  • The engine consumes too much fuel even when driving at moderate speeds
  • Becker® MAP PILOT does its navigating job satisfactory, but its interface seems outdated and not the most user friendly

Video update: BMW 520d Touring

A few weeks ago pictures of a Sapphire Black metallic BMW 520d Touring with a Venetian Beige Dakota leather have been posted, also including a list of all the options that the car is equipped with. Apart from the pictures, also a video of this particular 520d has been made.

This video features a walkaround of the car, showing both the exterior and interior. It also shows how several options work in reality, like the comfort access, soft-close doors, Lane-change warning system, Active safe distance control, Head-up display, and Active Cruise Control.

Normally the video update would also include a video about the fuel consumption, acceleration, and top speed of the car. As the BMW 520d Touring has been featured before, look here for similar videos.

The co-drivers view: Berlin

Berlin is not only the capital of Germay, located in the eastern part of the country, and also is the capital of the county. With 892km2 it has the largest surface area all cities in central Europa, while the 3,5 million inhabitants make it the second largest city in the European Union.

In 1936 Berlin was host to the Olympic Games, therefore a new stadium was built in the western part of the city. At this place the first video starts, after heading for the stadium we turn around into the area of "Westend". After turning onto the "Reichsstraße", the are driving out of the "Westend" district. The "Theodor-Heuss-Platz" is the first major road crossing, in the form of a large roundabout with traffic lights. From the "Theodor-Heuss-Platz" one can reach many points of the city directly, but we choose to drive onto the Kaiserdamm towards the city center and Tiergarten district.

Continuing onto the Kaiserdamm in the second video, we drive along the Siegessäule and towards. Brandenburger Tor (Brandenburg Gate). After having reached the Brandenburg Gate, we turn left towards the Reichstag. The stones in the road surface indicate the place where the Berlin Wall used to run, right in front of the Brandenburg Gate and on the road we are driving on.

Car used: Audi A4 2.0 TDI Avant Facelift (MY2012)

Part one: Olympic Stadium, Theodor-Heuss-Platz, Kaiserdamm

Part two: Kaiserdamm, Siegessäule, Brandenburger Tor, Reichstag
